Baku hosts 14th International Altai Communities Symposium

The 14th International Altai Communities Symposium was held in Baku from September 9 to 12, focusing on the theme ‘Yesterday, Today, and Tomorrow of Altai Studies.’ The event was dedicated to the centenary of the First Turkology Congress, which also took place in Baku in 1926.

Academics from various nations, including Turkey, Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Uzbekistan, Turkmenistan, Mongolia, Hungary, Japan, and China, participated in the symposium. A total of 121 presentations were delivered covering diverse fields such as linguistics, history, archaeology, anthropology, folklore, literature, and culture.

The gathering aimed to strengthen scientific networks and academic cooperation within the Turkic world. Discussions extended beyond traditional linguistics to include modern disciplines like genetics, ethnography, and digital humanities, with an emphasis on developing common terminology and academic collaboration.
