Romania's PNRR funds power energy‑efficient upgrades in schools and towns

Romanian local authorities are completing a series of projects financed by the National Recovery and Resilience Plan (PNRR). The commune of Schitu (Olt) finished the "energy‑efficiency upgrade of the Agronomist’s House" with a grant of 586,983 lei, aiming to cut utility costs and emissions. In Oradea, the Iosif Vulcan National College completed extensive façade rehabilitation, thermal insulation and photovoltaic installation, with 92 % of works finished by August. Moșnița Nouă announced the completion of its "green school" construction, a 13‑classroom, energy‑efficient campus funded under PNRR component C15. Galați municipality wrapped up the "energy renovation of the building on Nufărului Street" project, installing solar panels and modern heating systems. The city of Simeria secured over 21 million lei to retrofit residential blocks, upgrade public lighting and build a 850 kW photovoltaic farm in Săulești. Galați County Council is installing photovoltaic parks totalling nearly 48 million lei at hospitals and public facilities, projected to cover up to 85 % of hospital electricity demand. In Băile Olănești, mayor Sorin Vasilache highlighted ongoing road, bridge and water‑sewage upgrades funded by EU and national programs. Across these initiatives, the common goals are reduced energy consumption, lower public utility bills, improved comfort in public buildings and expanded use of renewable energy sources.
