Balaton opens new Aranyhíd beach and expands free access at Helikon Strand
In early June, the new Aranyhíd Strand opened on a freshly developed lakeside section in Balatonfüred, offering modern amenities such as restaurants, upgraded changing rooms, sunbeds, umbrellas, and rentals for stand‑up paddleboards and water‑bikes. Meanwhile, Keszthely’s Helikon Strand announced free admission for the 2026 season, inviting visitors to a 20,000‑square‑metre area with landscaped green spaces, large shade trees, playgrounds and buffet services. The long‑standing Balaton‑Szemesi thermal spa will remain closed this summer while a new operator is sought, but three nearby free beaches will continue to serve holidaymakers. The guide also highlights several dog‑friendly spots, including the Keszthely Dog Park, Fonyódi pet beach and a designated area on the inner lake of Tihany.
