Balearic Islands approve 2027 labor calendar and report on migration

The Government of the Balearic Islands has approved the 2027 labor calendar, which includes 12 regional and national holidays. The schedule features five long weekends, including one five-day break spanning from March 25 to March 29.

Separately, a report from the Economic and Social Council (CES) reveals that nearly 29% of the population in the Balearic Islands consists of regular migrants. The report notes that migration is concentrated in the tourism, construction, and primary sectors. The CES found no evidence that immigration displaces local workers or causes disproportionate use of public services such as healthcare, education, or minimum income benefits. However, the council called for policy changes and increased investment to address declining social tolerance toward migrant populations.
