Balearic Islands emergency officials see high turnover

Eleven high-ranking officials have left the General Directorate of Emergencies and Interior of the Balearic Islands government between October 2024 and July 1. The departures consist of six direct resignations and five temporary transfers via service commissions.

Key departures include the head of the Interior department, the head of the Classified Activities service, the head of the Emergency Logistics service, and the head of the Public Security Institute of the Balearic Islands (ISPIB). Additionally, an emergency coordinator technician and the department secretary have left their posts.

While the regional government describes these changes as common movements within the public service, other sources attribute the turnover to labor tension caused by the current director general, Pablo Gárriz. As of July 1, six positions remained vacant, though the directorate stated most have since been filled.
