Balearic Islands end emergency status following heavy rains
The Directorate General of Emergencies and Interior of the Government has declared the end of the emergency in Ibiza, Formentera, and Mallorca. The emergency was activated last Saturday due to flooding and storms that impacted the islands.
Following improvements in weather conditions, the Inunbal Plan has transitioned to the recovery and normalization phase. While Mallorca had already lowered its operational status to level 0 on Tuesday, the de-escalation in Ibiza and Formentera was slower, moving from level 2 to level 1 on Wednesday before reaching the current recovery phase.
The 112 Emergency Coordination Center managed a total of 424 incidents during the episode: 178 in Mallorca, 170 in Ibiza, 68 in Formentera, and 8 in Menorca. The Military Emergencies Unit (UME), which was deployed to Ibiza and Formentera on Saturday, completed its tasks on Wednesday morning.
