Balendra Shah Government Faces Widespread Protests Over Delayed Reforms
The administration led by Balendra Shah entered office with one of the strongest public mandates for change, pledging cleaner governance, anti‑corruption measures and faster decision‑making.
Teachers, doctors, farmers, civil servants, business owners, students, journalists and landless settlers have taken to the streets across Nepal, demanding action on delayed laws, fertilizer shortages, education reforms, safer health‑work conditions and the implementation of the School Education Act. Protesters argue the current leadership is responsible for the slow response, even though many grievances stem from previous governments. Shah has reiterated his commitment to good governance and anti‑corruption initiatives.
