Shah, also an acclaimed singer, won the Kathmandu mayoral election with a landslide and has pursued initiatives such as sanitation improvements, heritage preservation, illegal‑structure crackdowns, and the revival of the Tukucha River. He has reduced public appearances, relying heavily on Facebook for communication, and has livestreamed municipal executive meetings to claim transparency. Despite these efforts, the capital’s expenditure reports suggest his tenure has not been financially stellar.
