Bali blacklist bans two Dutch nationals over alleged discriminatory club
Indonesia’s Bali province has placed two Dutch citizens on a blacklist, prohibiting them from re‑entering the island. Authorities said the pair organised a digital‑nomad running club that allegedly gave preferential treatment to Western participants, prompting a complaint from Indonesian applicant Annisa Rahmadani. Rahmadani alleged she was discriminated against because of her Indonesian name and phone number, while her Dutch husband was accepted.
Bali immigration director Hendarsam Marantoko told the Jakarta Globe that “there can be no state within a state,” and emphasized that foreign nationals cannot set exclusive rules inside Indonesia. The accused club, Club Entourage Bali, issued a public apology, stating that digital‑nomads come from many nations and should not be judged solely by origin. The two Dutch nationals had already left for Singapore before the ban was imposed.
