Bali Police investigate theft of $10,000 in jewelry from Chinese tourist
Police in Bali are investigating the theft of jewelry valued at approximately US$10,000 from a Chinese tourist, Xu Li, during an organized excursion. The incident occurred on October 5, 2026, while Xu Li and a group of seven other visitors were touring Nusa Penida.
The group had left their luggage secured inside a travel vehicle while they departed from Serangan Harbor for the island excursion. The driver reported that he parked the locked vehicle in a garage in South Denpasar during the tour. Upon arriving at the New Sunari Lovina Beach Resort in Buleleng later that night, Xu Li discovered that the combination lock on her suitcase had been altered and a jewelry box containing rings, earrings, and an emerald bracelet was missing.
Buleleng Police spokesperson Iptu Yohana Rosalin Diaz confirmed the report was received on October 6. Investigators are currently coordinating with South Denpasar police, as they believe the theft likely took place while the vehicle was parked in South Denpasar. Authorities have begun questioning witnesses, including the driver and tour guide.
