Bali workers demand minimum wage increase to Rp4.5 million
The Aliansi Semeton Pekerja Bali Bersatu has submitted nine demands to the Bali Provincial DPRD Commission IV, calling for a significant increase in the provincial minimum wage (UMP). The alliance is requesting that the UMP be raised from Rp3,207,459 to Rp4,500,000 per month, while the sectoral minimum wage (UMSP) be set at Rp5,250,000.
Labor representatives argued that the current minimum wage is insufficient to meet the Decent Living Needs Index (KHL) in Bali, which they estimate ranges between Rp4.5 million and Rp5.2 million per month. They cited rising costs for basic necessities, housing, and local socio-religious expenses as primary factors eroding workers' purchasing power.
I Nyoman Suwirta, Chairman of Commission IV of the Bali DPRD, stated that the legislature understands these conditions and committed to including the KHL data and the requested wage figures in the council's official recommendation draft. This draft will serve as the formal channel for discussing the upcoming determination of Bali's UMP and UMSP.
