Balint Pastor clarifies Alliance of Vojvodina Hungarians' political stance
Balint Pastor, the candidate for the Alliance of Vojvodina Hungarians (SVM) list, has addressed the party's political positioning ahead of upcoming elections. In an interview, Pastor stated that the SVM does not consider itself a group of ‘political prostitutes’ and is not renouncing its allies or friends.
Pastor emphasized that as a minority party, the SVM will not decide who holds power, leaving that decision to the majority of the people. He noted that while the party's participation in a ruling coalition remains an open question, their primary focus is representing the interests of the Hungarian community and those who identify with their policies.
He expressed a desire for the party to establish its own parliamentary club and highlighted their history of running independently in elections. Regarding the possibility of becoming a ‘kingmaker’ (tas na vagi), Pastor noted that the party has had negative experiences with such a role between 2008 and 2012 and does not actively seek that position, though the final outcome will depend on the number of mandates won by citizens.
