Alliance of Vojvodina Hungarians political platform

Bálint Pásztor, president of the Alliance of Vojvodina Hungarians (VMSZ), has outlined a platform centered on the Serbian-Hungarian strategic partnership and European integration. He noted that while Serbia’s EU accession process has faced stagnation, the adoption of the Western Balkans growth plan and subsequent government reforms have enabled access to necessary funds. Pásztor also emphasized legislative efforts to align Serbian law with EU standards, such as the introduction of a law on cohesion funds.

As the election campaign progresses, Pásztor has addressed the party’s political positioning. He rejected characterizations of the VMSZ as ‘political prostitutes’ and stated that the party does not intend to renounce its allies. While the party’s role in a potential ruling coalition remains undecided, Pásztor emphasized that the VMSZ’s primary focus is representing the interests of the Hungarian community. He noted that the party does not actively seek a ‘kingmaker’ role, citing negative experiences with such a position between 2008 and 2012, though the final outcome will depend on the number of mandates won.
