Balkans Brace for Heatwave and Thunderstorm Risks

Macedonia is set to experience temperatures as high as 40 °C with localised thunderstorms, heavy rain and hail in several areas, prompting warnings of possible storm conditions.

In Tetovo, fire officials have deployed a new drone and intelligent cameras to detect and combat forest and agricultural fires that have risen with the soaring temperatures.

Slovenia’s meteorological service warned that three weather disturbances will cross the country this week, bringing strong thunderstorms, gusty winds and occasional hail, especially along the coast and inland valleys.

Bulgaria is also forecast to see daytime highs between 31 °C and 36 °C, accompanied by short‑lived rain showers and thunderstorm activity across much of the country, with similar conditions expected along the Black Sea coast.
