Balkan infrastructure summit and Sofia SME finance expo announced
The Balkan Summit 2026 is scheduled for October 19-20 in Prishtina, where Kosovo, Albania, and North Macedonia will present a joint investment portfolio exceeding 20 billion EUR. The initiative aims to attract international capital for approximately 110 infrastructure projects spanning transport, energy, and digital sectors, including AI-ready data centers. Organizer Driton Dalipi stated the goal is to offer investors a single regional market with three entry points rather than three small, competing markets. While Bulgaria is currently outside this initial phase, organizers noted it could join in future stages.
Separately, the VII edition of the Sofia International Money Expo (SIM Expo 2026) will take place on November 5, 2026, at the Sofia Balkan Palace. Organized by the Bulgarian Chamber of Commerce and Industry in partnership with the Small and Medium Enterprises Promotion Agency and the Sofia Municipality, the conference will focus on the theme ‘Sofia – a regional financial hub’. The event aims to enhance financial literacy for SMEs and explore opportunities arising from Bulgaria’s entry into the eurozone, specifically regarding fintech, green transition, and digitalization.
