Cinehill Film Festival draws international stars to Fužine, Croatia

The Cinehill Film Festival runs from 21 to 26 July in Fužine, featuring a wide‑range film programme and numerous cultural events. Oscar‑winner Edward Berger receives the Maverick Award for his contribution to cinema, and actor Zijah Sokolović is honored for 50 years of work. The festival’s main competition jury includes Igor Šeregi, Serbian producer Snežana van Houwelingen, Montenegrin director Marija Perović and Palestinian producer Baher Agbariya.

Films shown span retrospectives of Berger’s work, regional productions, and new titles such as "More", which faced censorship in Israel. Directors Damjan Kozole, Piotr Domalewski, Anke Blondé and others present new works, while a short‑film segment (CineCorto) showcases emerging talent from Croatia, Italy, Montenegro and beyond. Panels discuss topics from regional hits to AI‑assisted filmmaking, and live music performances round out the schedule.

The event highlights the region’s cultural vibrancy, drawing guests from across Europe, the Middle East and North America to the green carpet of Fužine.
