Balkanik Festival to feature Brâncuși-inspired contemporary art

The Balkanik Festival will host a contemporary art program titled ‘Forms that are silent/ Forms that illuminate - Constantin Brâncuși at Balkanik Festival’ in Tei Park from August 28 to 30. The event is part of the ‘Brâncuși150’ program, which commemorates the 150th anniversary of the sculptor's birth by stimulating modern creativity inspired by his philosophy of essentialism, verticality, and light.

The program features two main interventions. The first, ‘The Bird (that does not touch the ground)’, is a 3.5-meter-tall monumental sculpture-installation by scenographer Raluca Pavel. The work uses sculpted polystyrene on a metal structure with a matte white resin finish to explore volume and organic verticality. At night, the piece will be transformed through video mapping by multimedia artist Adistu.

The second intervention, ‘The Table of Silence’, is a collective performative piece designed to temporarily suspend the festival's rhythm, inviting the public to engage in a shared exercise of listening and presence.
