Turkish municipalities launch animal health and home care initiatives
Balıkesir Metropolitan Municipality has announced the September-October schedule for its mobile animal health service. The ‘Can Dost Yerinde Hayvan Bakım ve Tedavi Aracı’ (Can Dost On-Site Animal Care and Treatment Vehicle) will visit 20 districts to provide veterinary services, including health screenings, parasite treatments, and rabies vaccinations for stray animals and owned dogs.
The mobile unit is scheduled to begin its upcoming tour in Savaştepe on September 21, followed by stops in Bigadiç, Sındırgı, Kepsut, Dursunbey, Balya, and İvrindi. This initiative is part of broader municipal projects such as ‘Sahip Çıkıyoruz, Sahipsiz Bırakmıyoruz’ and the development of natural living areas for animals.
In a separate municipal update, Antalya Metropolitan Municipality reported that its home care services assisted 1,524 citizens between January and August 2026. The program provides personal care and domestic assistance—such as cleaning and laundry—to elderly individuals, people with disabilities, and those with chronic illnesses who struggle to manage daily life independently.
