Balıkesir opens Disaster Coordination Center to improve crisis management

Balıkesir Metropolitan Municipality has officially opened its Disaster Coordination Center (AKOM) to enhance the city's disaster management capacity and resilience.

During the opening ceremony, Metropolitan Mayor Ahmet Akın stated that the center is designed to manage crisis moments from a single hub and ensure the city is not left alone during difficult times. The center aims to coordinate efforts between state institutions, municipalities, and local teams to protect citizens. The event was attended by various local mayors, AFAD Balıkesir Provincial Director Şelal Ufuk Ergeldi, and other political and municipal representatives.
