Baloch leader calls for international recognition of Balochistan independence

Baloch leader Mir Yar Baloch has called upon the international community to legally, politically, and diplomatically recognize the independence of Balochistan. Marking August 11, a date significant to Baloch nationalists, Mir Yar Baloch accused the Pakistani establishment of ongoing repression and claimed that more than 50,000 Baloch people are currently enduring atrocities in torture cells.

The date of August 11 holds historical weight for the movement, commemorating the 1947 assertion of independence by the Khanate of Kalat prior to its 1948 accession to Pakistan. While Pakistan maintains the accession was legitimate, Baloch nationalist narratives continue to contest the legality of the incorporation, viewing it as coercive. The region remains a focal point of political identity and unresolved historical aspirations for the movement.
