Baloch leaders call for ‘Black Day’ on Pakistan Independence Day
Leaders of the Baloch movement have called for the observation of August 14, Pakistan’s Independence Day, as a ‘Black Day’ to protest the region's status within Pakistan. Dil Murad Baloch, Secretary General of the Baloch National Movement, stated that the day serves as a reminder that political borders and states are not permanent, citing the 1971 breakup of Pakistan as a precedent.
Mir Yar Baloch has also urged the global Baloch population to hoist black flags and wear black armbands to signal their rejection of Pakistani rule. He asserted that Balochistan maintains a distinct historical and cultural identity separate from the Pakistani state. Additionally, Mir Yar Baloch condemned recent Pakistani military airstrikes in the Surab region, alleging that the operations resulted in civilian casualties.
