Baloch Liberation Army claims suicide blast on Jaafar Express shuttle in Quetta, Pakistan

On May 24, a suicide bomb detonated on a Jaafar Express shuttle near Quetta in Pakistan's Balochistan province, targeting soldiers being moved for Eid. The explosion derailed the engine and three carriages, flipped two carriages, and caused 27 fatalities and 131 injuries, with several victims in serious condition.

The Baloch Liberation Army (BLA) said its Magid Brigade carried out the attack. A BLA spokesperson identified 25‑year‑old Bilal Shahwani, also known as “Sain,” as the bomber and described the strike as proof of the group’s expanding intelligence capabilities. Pakistan’s Federal Railway Minister Haneef Abbasi confirmed the blast occurred near Chamman Gate as the train was en route from Quetta Cantt to Quetta Railway Station.
