Pakistan internal conflict and cross‑border ops

Entities: Manji Khel, Tank district · Frontier Corps Balochistan · Lakki Marwat district · Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan · Pakistan Army

Overview

Militant violence across Pakistan persisted through July 2026. The Baloch Liberation Army reiterated its claim of a suicide‑truck attack on a Pakistan Coast Guard camp in Jiwani, Gwadar, stating that more than 30 guards were killed and many injured, and released video footage of the blast and a subsequent ground assault by its Fateh Squad. Pakistani authorities have not verified the casualty figures.

In Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, the provincial government announced the recruitment of 4,306 new police constables, including a significant number of women, to bolster security ahead of anticipated Taliban‑linked attacks. Chief Minister Muhammad Suhail Afridi urged the new officers to prioritize crime elimination and counter‑terrorism.

Security forces continued intensive operations in the province. An intelligence‑driven raid in Bannu district on 15 July killed five militants and seized weapons. A larger assault announced on 17 July under the "Azm‑e‑Istehkam" campaign reported 24 militants killed, including members of the Fitna al‑Khwarij network, with additional weapons recovered.

The conflict escalated further on 25 July when Tehreek‑e‑Taliban Pakistan claimed a wave of coordinated attacks that killed more than 56 soldiers and injured dozens across Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, including a deadly strike on a joint army‑police camp in Manji Khel, Tank district. Separate shootings in Lakki Marwat and the destruction of a girls’ school were also reported. These developments underscore the deepening internal insurgency and its impact on border‑area security.
