Balochistan: Family of slain teacher accuses Pakistani forces of sheltering suspects
The family of Parvez Mazhar, an Arabic language teacher from Pasni, Balochistan, has accused Pakistani security forces of sheltering suspects involved in his death. Mazhar was reportedly abducted in front of his family before being found dead. His relatives allege he was taken to a private torture cell by an armed group they describe as a government-backed ‘death squad’. The family has threatened to block the Makran Coastal Highway if the named suspects are not handed over to the police.
Simultaneously, in Quetta, relatives of missing persons continue their protest against enforced disappearances. The ‘Voice for Baloch Missing Persons’ (VBMP) movement has entered its 6,390th day of demonstrations. Protesters, including the family of Kamran Khan, are demanding information regarding individuals detained by security forces. VBMP Chairman Nasrullah Baloch has called for an end to extrajudicial killings and enforced disappearances in the province, noting that a government commission has issued notices to relevant institutions regarding specific cases.
