Balochistan government reaches deal with families of Ziarat policemen, ending Quetta sit‑in

Families of seven police officers killed in the Ziarat terrorist attack ended their nine‑day sit‑in at Quetta after the Balochistan provincial government, led by Chief Minister Sarfaraz Bugti, agreed to a set of demands. The deal creates a judicial commission to probe the attack, commits to strengthening urban police, and considers restructuring the Levies force. Compensation, education funding and future employment for the martyrs' children were promised, and several public facilities will be renamed in their honor. The government also pledged to review disputed land allocations linked to the Ziarat‑Mangi Dam project. Bodies of the slain officers were transported to Ziarat under armed escort following the agreement.
