Balochistan human rights groups report enforced disappearances and killings
Reports indicate a continuing crisis of enforced disappearances and human rights violations in Pakistan's Balochistan region.
Human rights organization Paank, the human rights department of the Baloch National Movement, reported that the bodies of three previously missing civilians—Hassan Rafiq, Ehsan Hassan, and Nadil Baloch—were recovered in the Kuldan area of Gwadar district. The group alleges the individuals were victims of unlawful detention and extrajudicial killings by security forces. The recovered bodies reportedly contained slips of paper with the victims' names in their pockets.
Separately, reports highlight the case of Jiand Baloch, chairperson of the Baloch Students Organisation. Jiand Baloch was reportedly taken from his Quetta home on July 24, 2026, and returned 11 days later. This marks his third disappearance; his previous episodes include a nine-month disappearance starting in November 2018 and a month-long disappearance in July 2024. Amnesty International has cited his peaceful activism as a factor in his targeting.
