Balochistan police checkpoint attack kills dozens, sparks protests in Quetta

Heavily armed militants of the banned Balochistan Liberation Army stormed a police checkpoint in Ziarat district, Balochistan, killing at least 21 police officers and abducting five others. Security forces later killed about 15 terrorists linked to the attack.

The bodies of the slain officers were taken to Quetta's Civil Hospital, where grieving families staged sit‑ins, chanting anti‑military slogans and demanding the remains for burial. Protests blocked major highways linking Balochistan with Punjab and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, highlighting rising anger over security lapses in the province.
