Balochistan rights groups report civilian killings and disappearances

Human rights organizations have reported a series of extrajudicial killings and enforced disappearances in Pakistan’s Balochistan province.

In Kech district, the human rights wing of the Baloch National Movement, Paank, reported that armed men attacked a home in the Tump area on September 12. The group alleges that during an attempt to forcibly disappear Muhammad Tahir, attackers opened fire, killing him and seriously injuring his father, Tariq.

In a separate incident, the Baloch Voice for Justice (BVJ) reported that 16-year-old schoolgirl Sidra was abducted from Khatan Girls High School in the Khuzdar district on September 11. Her whereabouts remain unknown. BVJ has called on the United Nations to address the reported pattern of abductions targeting Baloch women and girls.

Additional reports from Paank highlight several other recent disappearances, including 20-year-old Fahad Anwar from Turbat in August, and several individuals from the Dera Bugti district. The Baloch Women Forum has also condemned the disappearance of minors, including 17-year-old Shahnaz and 14-year-old Sharanaz, in Kech district. Rights groups are calling for impartial investigations and accountability for these actions.
