Balochistan security operations and insurgent attacks escalate
Pakistan's Balochistan province is experiencing intensified conflict as security forces and insurgent groups engage in frequent clashes. In a recent three-day surge, security forces neutralized 48 militants across the Mastung, Quetta, Kalat, and Sibi districts. This follows a quadcopter strike in Mastung that killed three terrorists, including a Fitna al-Hindustan commander.
Conversely, the Baloch Liberation Army (BLA) claimed responsibility for an attack in Lasbela that killed 13 Pakistani soldiers and injured 11 others. The BLA also reported seizing a lithium extraction site in Mashkel, where they destroyed several vehicles and drilling machines, warning foreign companies against engaging in mining in the region.
In Karachi, joint operations by the Pakistan Rangers and the Counter Terrorism Department (CTD) resulted in the deaths of two Fitna al-Khawarij operatives.
Amidst the violence, Balochistan Chief Minister Sarfraz Bugti has ruled out any negotiations with insurgents, stating that the fight will continue until the last terrorist is eliminated. Bugti also expressed support for creating new provinces on administrative grounds to improve governance in the large province.
