Balochistan train bombing kills 24 and injures dozens in Pakistan

A suicide bomb exploded on the Jaffer Express near Chaman Phatak, Quetta in Balochistan, killing at least 24 people and wounding between 50 and 80, many of them military personnel. The blast destroyed a carriage and sent smoke billowing over the railway station.

The Baloch Liberation Army claimed responsibility, saying it was targeting Pakistani security forces. Pakistan’s Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif condemned the attack, stating, "I express deep condolences to the families of the victims and wish a swift recovery for the injured." Senator Sherry Rehman added, "Those behind such atrocities will face a strong response from security forces."

The incident underscores the ongoing instability in Balochistan, where separatist militants have frequently targeted the army, police and state infrastructure.
