Pakistan security forces kill 49 militants in western provinces

Pakistan is experiencing a sharp escalation in militant violence across its western provinces. The military's media wing, the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), announced that security forces killed 49 militants during a series of intelligence-based operations. These raids targeted two groups: Fitna al-Khawarij in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, resulting in 12 deaths, and Fitna al-Hindustan in Balochistan, resulting in 37 deaths.

In Balochistan, the security situation remains volatile. The Baloch Liberation Army (BLA) claimed responsibility for seizing control of Sarnan town in the Pishin district, where they reportedly destroyed a police station and targeted government buildings. Additionally, armed fighters have established blockades on major highways in Kalat, Mastung, Kharan, Chagai, and Washuk, disrupting commercial traffic and seizing vehicles.

Separate incidents of violence have also been reported. An explosion at an orchard in Mastung's Khad Kocha area killed at least six people and injured three. In Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, an ambush by unidentified gunmen killed Assistant Sub-Inspector Dost Muhammad in Mardan. These events follow a recent increase in fatalities in the region, with Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Balochistan accounting for the vast majority of the country's recent violence-related deaths.
