Baltimore Orioles appoint Jared Banner as new General Manager

The Baltimore Orioles have named Jared Banner as their new general manager. Banner joins the organization from the Chicago Cubs, where he most recently served as assistant general manager. He also brings experience from roles with the Boston Red Sox and New York Mets.

Banner will partner with Mike Elias, the team's president of baseball operations. Under their new structure, Banner will oversee internal players, coaches, player development, performance, and healthcare. Elias will focus more directly on scouting and acquisition, including professional, international, amateur, and contract matters.

Elias noted that Banner stood out among 10 to 12 candidates, citing his reputation and success in previous roles. Banner, who has known Elias since they both worked in scouting early last decade, expressed excitement about the opportunity to build a perennial contender in Baltimore.
