Baltimore Orioles face roster decisions amid free agency

Following the conclusion of the World Series, the Baltimore Orioles are navigating significant roster changes and free agency decisions. Four players, including reliever Keegan Akin, starter Chris Bassitt, reliever Andrew Kittredge, and starter Trevor Rogers, have filed for free agency.

The organization must also manage players returning from the 60-day injured list, including Kyle Bradish, Zach Eflin, Ryan Helsley, Colin Selby, Ryan Mountcastle, Jordan Westburg, and Tyler O’Neill. These players must be reinstated to the 40-man roster by Monday.

Key contract decisions are pending, such as the $25 million mutual option for Zach Eflin and a $7.5 million option for Ryan Mountcastle, both of which the team is expected to decline. Additionally, the Orioles hold a $20 million option for outfielder Luis Robert Jr., which could be bought out for $2 million. Meanwhile, infielder/outfielder José Barrero has elected free agency after being removed from the 40-man roster.
