Baltimore Orioles roster management and offseason moves
Overview
Following the conclusion of the World Series, the Baltimore Orioles began navigating significant roster changes and free agency decisions. Several players, including Chris Bassitt, Trevor Rogers, Keegan Akin, and Andrew Kittredge, filed for free agency. The organization also faced the task of reinstating multiple players to the 40-man roster following their return from the 60-day injured list.
As the offseason progressed, the team's focus shifted toward potential trades to reshape the roster after missing the postseason for two consecutive years. The front office reportedly expressed willingness to listen to offers for most players, excluding Pete Alonso. While the team considered trading players such as Felix Bautista and Ryan Helsley, injury concerns were noted as potential factors in trade valuations. The Orioles have prioritized acquiring a starting pitcher, improving outfield defense, and increasing offensive production from the catcher position.
