Bamboo Airways suspends charter and scheduled flights amid restructuring
Bamboo Airways announced it will cease the Hanoi–Lijiang charter service from 1 August, saying no viable operating option could be found. The airline issued an apology to partners and passengers and instructed affected travelers to contact their agents for refunds or re‑booking.
At the same time, the carrier’s booking website stopped showing any available flights for August on major domestic routes such as Hanoi‑Ho Chi Minh City, Hanoi‑Da Nang and Ho Chi Minh‑Da Nang. Customers reported long wait times and unanswered calls to the call centre, while the airline’s public statements cited a surge in refund requests.
These disruptions occur as Bamboo Airways continues a broad restructuring, trimming its network, optimizing its fleet and grounding most of its aircraft. Analysts note the airline’s recent plan to acquire wide‑body Boeing 787s adds financial pressure, and the suspension of both charter and scheduled services consolidates Vietnam’s domestic market among remaining carriers.
