International companies expand operations and investments in Romania
Several international companies are expanding their presence in Romania through strategic acquisitions and new operations. Polish investors are increasingly targeting the Romanian tourism sector. Rainbow Tours has acquired a majority stake in Paralela 45 Turism, while the Polish business travel specialist eTravel has taken a majority stake in Accent Travel. These moves aim to combine local market expertise with advanced Polish technological platforms to capture the high-margin business travel segment.
In the logistics sector, the Austrian group ERC Logistik has established a new Romanian subsidiary, Movantis Trans, near Timișoara to focus on international road freight. Additionally, the Beyond Borders program, supported by Banca Transilvania and Endeavor Romania, is facilitating the international expansion of Romanian companies into the Spanish market.
In Germany, the Schwarz Gruppe, parent company of Lidl and Kaufland, has announced plans to invest up to 5.6 billion euros in a new data center near Rostock by 2033 to bolster its European cloud and AI infrastructure.
