Foreign investment expansion in Romania
Overview
International companies are increasing their presence in Romania through diverse investments in tourism, logistics, and industrial services.
In the tourism sector, Polish investors are acquiring majority stakes in local companies, such as Rainbow Tours’ acquisition of Paralela 45 Turism and eTravel’s acquisition of Accent Travel, to integrate technological platforms with local expertise. In logistics, the Austrian group ERC Logistik has established a new subsidiary, Movantis Trans, near Timișoara to focus on international road freight. Additionally, the Beyond Borders program is assisting Romanian companies in expanding into the Spanish market.
German companies are also expanding their industrial footprint. Carbo-FORCE has partnered with Oradea-based Pure Carbon Solution to enter the biomass market, utilizing pyrolysis technology to convert waste into bio-charcoal and renewable energy. Furthermore, CWS Workwear is opening an industrial laundry facility in Brașov that utilizes a ‘Workwear-as-a-Service’ model and high energy efficiency standards.
