Daniel Vorcaro investigations reveal links to Hugo Motta and OAB influence plots
Investigations by the Federal Police into former banker Daniel Vorcaro, owner of Banco Master, have revealed several controversial connections and activities. Intercepted messages indicate that Hugo Motta, President of the Chamber of Deputies, discussed a real estate partnership involving a 400-hectare property in João Pessoa, which was registered in the name of Motta’s sister-in-law and involved a R$ 22 million loan from Banco Master.
Furthermore, the Federal Police are investigating a group known as ‘A Turma,’ allegedly mobilized under Vorcaro’s coordination for surveillance and intimidation of his opponents. Vorcaro is also accused of attempting to influence the leadership of the Brazilian Bar Association (OAB) by planning to spend up to R$ 10 million and provide private aircraft to fund the candidacy of Sérgio Leonardo.
In a separate development, intercepted communications suggest that executives at the Bank of Brasília (BRB) accelerated financial operations with Banco Master after identifying a liquidation risk for the latter. This follows the Central Bank's decision to decree the extrajudicial liquidation of Banco Master due to a severe liquidity crisis and regulatory violations. Vorcaro, currently held in preventive detention, has requested to vote at the Papuda Penitentiary Complex, a right granted to provisional prisoners in Brazil.
