Banco de México increases international reserves to $257 billion

The Bank of Mexico reported an increase of $329 million in its international reserves for the week ending August 14, 2026. This brings the institution's total international assets to $257.417 billion, reflecting a cumulative growth of $5.542 billion since the end of the previous year. The increase was primarily driven by fluctuations in the valuation of the assets managed by the bank.

During the same period, the country's monetary base saw a weekly reduction of 1.684 billion pesos, totaling 3.539 trillion pesos. Despite this weekly dip, the monetary base has grown by 8 percent annually. The discrepancy between the rise in dollar-denominated reserves and the decline in peso-denominated reserves was attributed to the appreciation of the national currency against the various currencies composing the reserve.
