Banco de Portugal launches itinerant service pilot in Bragança

The Banco de Portugal (BdP) is launching a pilot project called ‘Atendimento BdP Itinerante’ to provide in-person services to citizens in Bragança. Supported by the Bragança Municipality, the initiative aims to bring the central bank closer to local communities and improve access to services in territories far from current service points.

The partnership will be formalized on August 21 in a ceremony attended by BdP Governor Álvaro Santos Pereira and Municipal President Isabel Ferreira. Under the agreement, the municipality will provide facilities and assist with local community outreach.

The project will run as an experimental six-month pilot, during which a BdP team will travel regularly to Bragança to assist residents. Following this period, both entities will evaluate the results to determine whether to continue the service or expand this proximity-based model to other regions of the country.
