Dominican Republic targets record tourism growth in Canada and UK

Dominican Republic is implementing aggressive international promotion strategies to bolster its tourism sector and attract new investments. In Canada, Tourism Minister David Collado inaugurated the first-ever 'Meet in Paradise Canada 2026' fair in Toronto. The initiative aims to surpass 1.3 million Canadian visitors, capitalizing on a 30% growth trend in that market and positioning the country as a preferred alternative to other Caribbean destinations.

Simultaneously, Banco Popular Dominicano has announced plans to promote investment opportunities in the United Kingdom during the 2026 Dominican Week in London and the WTM London tourism fair. The bank intends to showcase business prospects in sectors including tourism, clean energy, advanced manufacturing, and technology to British investors and entrepreneurs.

Minister Collado noted that despite international conflicts, rising fuel costs, and inflation, key markets in Europe, Canada, Argentina, Latin America, and the United States remain in positive territory, projecting a historic year for the nation's tourism industry.
