Bandai targets 1,000 global Gashapon stores by 2027
Bandai is launching a global expansion strategy for its Gashapon capsule toy brand as it approaches its 50th anniversary in 2027. The company aims to reach a total of 1,000 official shops worldwide, split equally between 500 domestic locations in Japan and 500 international locations.
To support this growth, Bandai plans to accelerate expansion in North America and will make its first entry into the South American market with a store in Brazil. A “Gashapon World Tour” is scheduled to begin in January 2027, visiting regions including the Philippines, South Korea, North America, and Europe. The company also intends to launch a global portal to connect fans and centralize information.
Technological and product innovations were also unveiled, including the “GASHAPON STATION 100,” a new vending machine capable of dispensing the brand’s largest capsules to date, measuring 100mm in diameter. Additionally, Bandai highlighted the success of its “Mejirushi Accessories,” which have surpassed 200 million units in cumulative global shipments, and announced new series targeting high-end male collectors and children worldwide.
