Bandit attacks in Niger and Zamfara states lead to killings and abductions

Bandit attacks have caused casualties and abductions in Niger and Zamfara states. In the Gurmana community of Niger State's Shiroro Local Government Area, gunmen on motorcycles killed one person and abducted 10 others. During the daylight raid, attackers set houses and food barns ablaze and stole cattle. One community member was shot in the arm during the incident.

In Zamfara State, bandits launched a midnight attack on Tsafe, the headquarters of the Tsafe Local Government Area. The attackers opened fire in the town around 1:00 a.m., targeting residential areas. Local officials confirmed that five residents, including women, were abducted during the raid. Residents noted that the targeted areas lacked security checkpoints and local vigilante patrols compared to other parts of the town.
