Bandit raid in Katsina kills one, abducts 31

Armed bandits attacked the Shuwaki community in the Bakori Local Government Area of Katsina State, Nigeria. The raid, lasting about one and a half to two hours, left one resident dead and at least seven injured. The attackers stole cattle, sheep and mobile phones, and abducted 32 people; one ill woman was released, leaving 31 captives, most of them women and some carrying infants.

The assault follows a series of attacks on neighbouring villages in Bakori since late July, prompting residents to flee and raising concerns over farming and local livelihoods. No ransom demand or communication from the bandits has been reported, and local security forces were mobilised during the incident.
