Bandits attack Zamfara communities and threaten road travelers
Armed bandits in Zamfara State, Nigeria, have intensified attacks against residents and infrastructure. In the Farin Ruwa community of Maru Local Government Area, gunmen reportedly killed residents, abducted five individuals, and burned harvested rice crops. One victim, Saminu Adamu, was killed despite his family having already paid a ransom for his release.
In a separate development, bandits have issued a threat via a viral video to kill occupants and burn over 200 market-bound vehicles on the Dansadau-Gusau road. The group stated this is a reprisal for the seizure of their weapons by vigilantes. The bandits also warned the communities of Yarkatsina, Wanke, and Magami that they would target them if they continue providing intelligence to security agencies.
