Bandung sees stable food prices as chili and chicken costs fall
The Bandung City Trade and Industry Office (Disdagin) reports that prices of essential food items in traditional markets and modern retailers remain stable. Chili prices have decreased, with red bird’s eye (cabai domba) now at Rp60,000‑80,000 per kilogram and red long‑type (cabai merah tanjung) at Rp40,000‑60,000 per kilogram. Chicken meat stays under the government reference price at Rp38,000‑40,000 per kilogram, while beef ranges from Rp130,000‑150,000 depending on cut and quality. Cooking oil prices have stabilized after a recent rise.
Disdagin continues routine monitoring to guard against weather‑related fluctuations and to ensure supply. The city’s quarterly “pasar murah” (cheap‑market) program, aimed at keeping staple goods affordable, was held ahead of Idul Adha and is scheduled again for the third quarter, around September 2026.
