Bandung's Husein Sastranegara Airport Reactivation Planned for 2026

The city of Bandung plans to reactivate Husein Sastranegara Airport in August‑September 2026. Mayor Muhammad Farhan said final discussions are complete and the airport will serve 11 routes – domestic flights to Medan, Pekanbaru, Padang, Batam, Pontianak, Makassar and Denpasar, and international flights to Kuala Lumpur, Johor Bahru and Singapore.

Infrastructure work is underway, including road access improvements, drainage normalization, upgraded street lighting and a new parking‑management arrangement with the nearby air base (Lanud Husein Sastranegara). The mayor expects the reopening to strengthen air connectivity, boost tourism and attract investment to Bandung and the wider West Java region, despite concerns about ticket‑price pressures from the global economy.
