Bandung’s Husein Sastranegara Airport Set to Resume Jet Operations by September 2026

Bandung’s Husein Sastranegara Airport is preparing to restart commercial jet services. The local government aims to have Boeing 737‑500 and Airbus A320 flights landing as early as August 2026, while the Ministry of Transport and PT Angkasa Pura Indonesia have scheduled full commercial operations for 17 September 2026. Infrastructure work includes road access improvements, upgraded lighting, parking facilities, and enhancements to the airport’s fire‑rescue (PKP‑PK) capability, raising it to Category 7.

Initial passenger capacity is projected at about 3,000 travelers per day for the July–September 2026 trial period, with plans to expand to 10,000‑12,000 later. The reopening is expected to boost local logistics, transport, and warehousing sectors, strengthening Bandung’s competitiveness as a service‑oriented city and encouraging new airline routes, both domestic and potential international.
