Banedanmark completes major railway upgrades in Denmark
Banedanmark has successfully implemented several major infrastructure upgrades across the Danish rail network. On the Svendborg–Odense line, the agency has transitioned to the European Rail Traffic Management System (ERTMS), a digital signaling technology. This replaces aging analog systems with digital displays in driver cabs and real-time communication with traffic management centers, aiming to reduce delays and improve safety.
Additionally, significant renovations at Aarhus Central Station are nearing completion following extensive work that began in early 2025. The project included replacing 22.8 kilometers of track, extending platforms, and deploying a new digital signaling system. While electrification of the lines entering and exiting Aarhus remains the final step, the station is preparing to host an event on November 1 to showcase the completed track renewals and station upgrades.
