Bangkok warns of high sea levels and northern runoff

The Bangkok Metropolitan Administration has issued a warning regarding high sea levels and incoming northern water runoff expected between September 29 and October 4, 2026. The combination of strong southwest monsoon winds over the Andaman Sea, the South, and the Gulf of Thailand is expected to raise river levels.

Communities located outside of flood protection barriers, low-lying areas, and riverside residents are at high risk. Commuters are advised to monitor potential flooding on major routes, specifically Sukhumvit Road, Suksawat Road, and Rama II Road.

Authorities have provided emergency contact numbers, including the Flood Prevention Control Center and the 1555 Bangkok hotline, for residents requiring urgent assistance or reporting flooded areas.
